Disapointment rules with this kit from Revell. I was hoping that being a model to mark 50 years of an iconic British aircraft that some care and attention had gone into it's making. Unfortunately it seems that this is just a re-packaging of an earlier kit with very little, if any updating. The parts themselves appear to be a lot of amorphous lumps of plastic with little definition, the seat in particular is awful. Compare this seat to the 1/48 Tornado GR4 and there is a world of difference. There is no option for changing the weapons fit and even if you want to model a clean aircraft then you have some work to re model the pylons. The biggest complaint is that the panel lines are raised, I thought this went out years ago and I certainly don't remember any raised panel joints on the real jet when I served with the Harrier force. You would have hoped that Revell might have considered celebrating the other units that flew the Harrier i.e. 1Sqn & 4Sqn let alone some of the trials and developement units, all you get is 3Sqn and 20Sqn. I am afraid that this kit has found it's place up in tthe loft while I await some after market detailing sets and decals. Comparing this kit to many other Revell offerings I am extrememly disapointed.Read full review

This is a good size model for beginners I think ! It is a bit rough for my self because I am a bit demanding. I like my model to have a bit more precision and details ,but for the price this model offers good value and nice to look at from a distance , close up is slightly disappointed.

For the price I payed the kit is adequate. However for a 1/32 kit I think the detail is substandard. The cockpit, engine detail and main assemblies, The flaps and aelerons do not move and the weapon fit us to simplistic. As another reviewer has stated, they expected better for a NEW commemorative model. Revell have disappointed. They can do and have done better. I have a few of Revell’s kits of all scales. From the detail of a 1/32 kit I am very disappointed. I have had more detail on a 1/48 and a 1/72 kit.from Revell and others.

Be aware that although this kit is in a nice new box, with nice new decals and some paint and glue, the kit itself is one that was released 40 years ago, is essentially of a preproduction Harrier, and would need a great deal of conversion and detail changes to make it an accurate representation of a GR1 Harrier. The kit is very simple, but at the moment is the only 1:32 kit of an early Harrier, so it is nice to see it back in the shops, PROVIDED you know what you are buying. If Revell came up with a modern designed kit of a GR3, or a Sea Harrier, they would sell thousands!
