I can't remember who recommended this book but I'm really enjoying it. Whoever said the Victorians were staid could have had little idea of what wild lives they led. I sure that North Lincolnshire wasn't the only hot bed of lust in the haystacks. Of course other less exciting sides of rural life are recorded too. I don't just judge a book by its content, it must be well written. All in all its a thoroughly memorable record of rural Lincolnshire life. Once you open the book you'll find it hard to put down.
This book is a detailed generational family history written with great wit and human perception. It is also an historical social document of rural life I found it compelling and very entertaining.
