Hi, my name is Rory and this is my story. It was the bleak midwinter of the mid eighties when I first stumbled on the joys of Henry's yellow pussycat. At the time I was working alternate night and day weekly shiftwork at Thames Foundry, Ford Motor Company, Dagenham. The place was falling apart, due to lack of investment, it had opened in 1962! I was attached to quality control as a troubleman, very apt! In the lab we had a Polish colleague, he had been in the R.A.F. during the war and stayed. He was called Henry and as myself and fellow cohorts got 'into' Bob Godfreys creation we used to ask him about his irresponsible cat. 'Jah', he would reply (I think he was Polish?) 'my silly pussycat', then move bemusedley in the opposite direction. There was much to be learnt from the feline with the train spooters voice, I mean, who would now that Napoleon, Emperor of the French, wore biscycle clips? Especially as the roads were so bad in those days. Check out the first episode 'The Hobby' to verify this. But the episode that grabbed me was the 19th, 'The Disco Dance' what an incredible achievement! Henry and his buddies decide to enter a T.V. competition for dancing and invent the 'Disco Doddle' to be performed in fancy dress of your choice! Simple or what. Nothing, however, is that easy in Henry's little universe of chaos pr9nciple! Henry and gang turn up at the T.V. studios and perform the dance 'live' to an astonished and delighted British public. Big mistake. Why? you ask! Because everybody and I mean eveeerybody! starts dancing to this infectious melody! Everybody in the streets, factoies, shops and outlets is dancing and enjoying themselves!! The work ethic of the Capitalist economy is grinding to a halt! Obviously this cannot be allowed to continue and the government send paratroopers in to stop the event. Armed para's cascading out of the sky to stop a pussycat dancing! Well it was the time of Thatcher! Well it convinced me! I was enthused with rebeillion! That night on '3' lone and in the 'lab' I volubly interrogated my work colleagues. 'Did you see it?' 'Did you see what the Government would/will do if we try anything?' A bit far fetched perhaps? My work mates must of thought so... as thye said 'yeeesss' very slowly and sidled away in a crablike motion. Exit stage left for me? Still, it helped keep me on the left of things, so a debt of gratitude to the yellow one. So there is my review, get series one if you can, cos you won't regret it and will definately learn something maybe a bit about yourself: Waaayy to go henry! You felonious anarchic feline!! Fraternally Yours RoryRead full review
