Good old black-and-white film they always have such good storylines especially this film. very funny about a family run business making boots then the bootmaker marries the bosses daughter and and then it all unfolds don’t wanna say too much about it I’ll leave it to you to watch.

I recently remembered watching Hobson's choice on television when I was younger and so decided to read the book. I enjoyed it so much I thought I would like to purchase the DVD and I'm so pleased I did. I wondered why they had never produced an updated version but when I watched it I realise why - how could they? It is brilliant! As the box says 'a timeless masterpiece' Charles Laughton and John Mills are simple fantastic. It reminds me of the old fables with a poignant message. It's funny and takes you back in time. Regarding the DVD itself, it arrived quickly and provides what is asked for, no frills but decent quality.
Laughton's performance is outstanding as are all three main characters. The wedding night angst and following morning happy, subdued scene is touching and the dialogue throughout is superb. How such a petty domestic story reaches such heights is testament to Lean and all associated with the project. A real joy to watch.

I absolutely loved this movie. Brenda de Banzie, John Mills, and Charles Laughton are all wonderful. The David Lean direction is brilliant and the photography is excellent.
