Battery powered models, for me, are a waste of time, mainly due to their weak suction and not lasting long on a full charge. This model is what I was looking for, for seeming ages! Its mains powered and its suction is fairly equal to a normal mains powered cylinder vacuum at 550 watts. Easy to empty, and relatively light to use. The additional, motorised revolving brush which can be added by simple push-on is a bonus. I have just one minor thought: how long will this additional tool last? Might be a good idea to consider buying, if possible, an additional unit....should be a reasonable price. Having said that, the original revolving brush should last quite a long time. its for the odd rug, furniture, hard-to-get-at areas and small jobs....not really for bending over large carpets etc. I would certainly recommend this vac cleaner because of its great suction and its ease of use.Read full review

When I opted for the Hoover Jovis over the many alternative cordless machines I did so specifically because it is quite powerful, light to use, and very unusually has a powered brush-head designed to lift pet hairs. As numerous reviews have previously mentioned the Jovis is not particularly easy to empty, and it has a relatively small waste container. However it is light and convenient to use and IS extremely effective at removing pet hairs from car seats and carpets - which is why I bought one! However a disadvantage, not mentioned in any reviews I have read, is that the well concealed crevice tool is too short to reach down into crevises such as those between car seats and scuttles. Even more annoying is that the crevice tool cannot be replaced by a standard Hoover tool as it utilises a totally different method of mounting. Whilst the crevis tool problen can quite simply be rectified by modifying the tool itself it will no longer stow away as neatly as the original. In short the Jovis will usually be used to clean the car simply because of its demure size, light weight, and ease of use. It's far easier to throw into the boot of the car than a Henry - but nowhere near as effective! Read full review

Wow, this unit really works and wirks very well. Powerfull on stair carpet, the long length cord was more than ample and the "bin" was full, so working well. Highly recommended as more than fit to do the job. Didn't find it too noisy at all, gets the job done which to me is more important.

This vac needs emptying and the filter cleaning after each use. Otherwise it doesn't pick up,which I don't consider to be user friendly. I have looked at purchasing a new filter, and all of the Hoover Jovis filters look totally different to the one it came with. So not sure what to do next. The one that is in it is pleated and seems to collapse when the motor is running. Whereas the new ones look as though they are in a kind of plastic cage, so maybe it was a design fault, which makes me wonder just how old the refurbished vac is !

Excellent small cleaner with good suction and not reliant on having a charged battery. Easy to empty. Long power lead. The inbuilt crevice tool is a neat idea but it is quite short.
