This type of earplug is the most effective I've found so far. They are a kind of soft silicon putty that you gently squeeze into your ear using your thumb. It takes a couple of minutes to work the putty until it completely fills the area above the ear-hole. When you've done this properly you really can't hear anything except the sounds going on inside your head! Having said this they can be TOO effective - you will struggle to hear the alarm-clock in the morning and may need the help of someone giving you a nudge to wake-up. Also, be aware of the possible danger of not hearing a smoke-alarm unless it is quite close. Because the putty squeezes into the ear, it doesn't stick out at all like most other plugs so it is unlikely to fall out. Ideal for dealing with snoring partners, nightingales and the dawn chorus, traffic sounds, night-shift working. The putty always stays in one piece so you won't end up with bits falling in your ear. The putty can be re-used just by washing it, but after about 10 uses then you will probably want to change to a fresh pair, which is why they come in packs. Read full review

The product itself looked as expected, 7 pairs of shaped pieces of silicone, and came in a nice plastic container; but if like myself you have problems with your hands and arms, the ear plugs can be difficult to mould and place just right as you have to place them in a certain way. They are supposed to fit over the opening to the ear and pressed carefully around the edges to seal the cavity and not get pushed into the ear in a ball as I was expecting. (There are small diagrams showing how to do this). So product good if you can place them properly, and definately good value. Just not right for me.

Most other silicon ear plugs on eBay are sold in 3 pairs, this one is in 7 pairs. Fantastic sound isolation. Very soft and very easy to mould. For swimmers, the softness ensure a better seam, however it can be a little difficult to take it out as it might break inside the ear. Also due to the softness, it might leave bits of silicon in the ear. This is not a massive issue for me as for me the memorability is more important than integrity, I just need to be careful when removing them. Definitely recommend for frequent swimmers as it is fast to apply (better seam) and I don't find any other products with such a good deal.

I've tried other ear plugs before without much luck but these are definitely the best so far. I use them at night when my OH is keeping me awake with his snoring and they certainly help keep the noise out. I'm not saying I can't hear anything at all but they certainly drown out enough of the noise to enable me to get to sleep. And I use mine over and over again. I've had them a while now and only used the one pair so far. They are also very easy to use and very comfortable.

Tried these to stop water getting into my ears during showering. They are far superior to the foam type which don't stay in the ear and absorb water anyway. The instructions recommend that they are only used once ( a good marketing ploy ??) but I have used my first pair 4 times now and they are still fine. I recommend this kind of ear plug to stop water getting into the ears.
