really enjoyed I Found You – it is nice and easy to read, flowing well with a good dollop of suspense in the storyline. What happens when single mum Alice meets “Frank” on the beach near her Yorkshire home. “Frank” is a man in crisis, he has lost his memory and doesn’t even know his own name. Is it wise for Alice to take him under her wing? After all, he could be anyone and she could be putting her children in danger. The story is told from several viewpoints, firstly those of Alice and “Frank” themselves. We also hear from Lily – a young woman whose husband has disappeared as well as enjoy a series of flashbacks to the summer of 1993 where we follow a family on their summer holiday. All the different segments blend nicely together to produce a story that really kept my interest. I “knew” from piecing the puzzle together who “Frank” really was – or did I? I liked the way another possibility opened up and for most of the read I was never 100% sure, I kept changing my mind from one possibility to the other so just had to keep reading to see what would happen. I have read one Lisa Jewell book before which was a lot lighter than this one and so this read wasn’t quite what I was expecting. On the one hand it is a really romantic story with some lovely characters who you quickly grow attached to but on the other hand, there is a seam of darkness, suspense and danger running throughout the read. Definitely a 5 star read for me. I received a review copy from the publisher via Netgalley.Read full review
