Bought this back in 1980,the day it came out and nearly 30 years later it still sounds vibrant and exciting. The new cd version sounds great and the packaging is faithful to the original sleeve together with added notes from Ian gillan(hooray!)Unlike some of IG's 1970's purple output this doesn't sound dated and for me this band was his finest hour.Absolutley no fillers, some gems(check out Are you sure,On the rocks),a constant stream of quality throughout. The For Gillan fans only disc has bonus tracks but does contain some below par moments but the positives far outway the negs(abbey of thelema, higher and higher are tremendous!). For those unfamiliar with the bands work, describing there sound to you would not be easy, though its certainly 4/4 rock for the most part.Think deep purple playing new wave with a jazzer on keyboards and punks answer to hendrix on guitar.Possibly The best album IG has appeared on.Read full review
