In 1958 when this film was partially filmed in Snowdonia I was 16 and used to cycle to watch the filming so it has a personal value to me. That apart, it is based on a real life story of Gladys Aylward and is a remarkable account of her courage and rescue of many children during the Japanese invasion of China. A film well worth watching.

Based on the true life of Gladys Ailwood , and her faith and strength to rescue one hundred children , her journey through war torn mountains in China. The actors are excellent, and although there are no special effects or cgi the movie is compelling and heartwarming. Brings a tear to your eyes. Excellent.

A good film but if you have read the book you will see that there is a lot cut out and a bit of a variance. For eg the child she bought in the book she called nine pence but in the film she called her sixpence. A lot of her tough journey to China was not in the film and the true hardship she experienced. Quite a variance so not a true reflection but still a good watch
