Pleasantly surprised with quite a lot of features makes you realise how out of date our old iron was.

Let's start with the good points. Even with the charging base attached this is a lightweight iron that produces a good amount of steam and glides smoothly over all fabrics. This, however, can be said of the majority of modern steam irons. What allegedly sets the Phoenix FreeFlight apart is it's cordless function and unfortunately this is where it lets itself down. The iron takes about 30 seconds to fully charge which is fair enough but this only acquaints to 30 seconds of use before it needs to be placed back on the charging base. Subsequent charging takes around 10 seconds which may not seem a lot but is a nuisance in the middle of ironing a shirt, etc,. When used vertically as a steamer further deficiencies present themselves - the iron can only manage approx 5 blasts of steam (at 2 second intervals) before again needing to be recharged. This is insufficient to unwrinkle the smallest of garments. It is also evident that the much vaunted 'powerful blast of steam' does not decrease clothing anywhere near as efficiently as a constant flow of steam as provided by dedicated steamers. One other niggle involves the steam switch - this must be set to off before the iron is used vertically as steamer. This may seem a small point but forget to do it and scalding water will splutter out of the soleplate onto the floor (or maybe a foot!). In short, if I had paid full price for this iron I would be very disappointed in its' cordless function. As it happens I managed to get it for less than the cost of the corded Phoenix Gold and that is the way I will use it.Read full review

Pros Lightweight and the ceramic plate makes it easy to manoeuvre. Fast heating Cons Cordless the steam doesn't last long however the fast heating counter acts this issue.. When corded- (attached to the base) the cord is in a strange position and. in the way of your wrist when in use. would i recommend? Id say try before you buy, For me the cord is annoying.

I have the wired one of these and it was too heavy and I knocked it over numerous time dinting my kitchen floor. This iron is lightweight and gets much hotter and you can use it cordless or with the base attached. I love it

Only used this once, does take a bit to work out how to stop drips, which i haven't conquered yet. Easy to use, light and great having no cord and the super steam button is great.
