The Porringer is fantastic - no more burnt on porridge ideal for re-heating soup and making sauces, scrambled eggs etc. I wish I had bought one years ago. Well pleased with it. Just pour the water from the bottom into the top pan after use and leave it for a short while and then just brush round and it just needs a wash - no scraping or scouring needed. Very good value. Arrived as stated.

Bought this for making porridge. Porridge does stick but if you fill it full of cold water and leave it while you eat then it's easy to clean with a pan brush. It also works really well as a fondue. Handles are sturdy, glass lid has a vent. Lower pan has a nice heavy base, thick sides and is deep so you can get plenty of water in it. It can also be used without the upper as a normal pan Upper pan is thin and light so it conducts the heat through quickly.. The 'groove' you can see is how the upper rests on the lower pan. It's about 12mm wide and quite shallow so it's easy to clean out. You can fill above the groove but you will need to keep stirring as it does tend to stick and dry out on the thin metal sides. When the upper pan is empty, and without the lid, the weight of the handle causes it to tip over. I like to bring water up to the boil with the pan lid on before adding the upper. I can't put the ingredients into the upper pan ready for this without risking it tipping over and spilling out. Takes a little getting used to and you may have to rethink your preparation method but I would recommend it - especially if you love porridge but hate cleaning the panRead full review

So far used to reheat, to defrost and cook spinach, to defrost mince, to make porage, for poached and scrambled eggs, sometimes poached over the spinach. Can also be used to melt chocolate, to make egg sauces and custards, tapioca, cous cous.... This also can be used to make cosmetic creams using coconut oil and body butters which would require melting before being mixed with other things.

This porringer arrived promptly and was fit for purpose. The top part does not stand well alone as the handle is heavy and it will tip when empty or when filling, so they have to be used together (as designed), in other words, you haven't got two pans for the price of one.
