Every child dreams of growing up and having the freedom that comes with driving a car; if only they knew! Your child could be the Rossi of the playground on an electric motorbike, or conquer the sandpit in a battery powered Jeep with this collection of electric battery powered ride on cars.
As battery power has progressed, with more and more electric cars on the road, so too have electric children’s vehicles grown in variety and come down in price. This makes them a much more realistic proposition for any child’s list to santa.
There are several things to bear in mind before making your purchase of a new electric battery powered ride on car. Firstly, safety. Different vehicles have motors of varying power outputs and as such they can reach different speeds. For a younger child, a vehicle with a speed of no more than 4mph, roughly walking pace, is ideal, as they’re not going fast enough to cause any harm should they crash into a plant pot or even their parent’s ankle.
Likewise, if looking for an electric motorbike, some bikes come with stabilisers which can be removed once the child has gained in confidence and skill. Many electric vehicles these days also come with remote controls, so you as the parent can keep your child on the straight and narrow.
Secondly, batteries are heavy and some electric vehicles can be reasonably heavy. This could be a concern if you’re planning on taking the vehicle out to parks and playing fields. A 40kg vehicle can be a handful for one person to lift into the boot of a car.
Thirdly, the large batteries on these vehicles can take some time to charge, often as much as 8 hours or more. Therefore for safety reasons it’s far better to have somewhere indoors, such as a garage, to charge them up.
