A must read for anyone who was a wartime evacuee or a relative of an evacuee. Terence Frisby describes his own personal experiences of being an evacuee. I read this book in memory of my mum who was evacuated to north Devon during WW2 and in support of The British Evacuee Association who facing closure at the end of June 2023.

I read this book years ago and lent it to someone but forgot who it was. Wanted another friend to read it so bought it and reread it. It's a beautiful story of love and friendship and also hardship. How do you say goodbye to your children with no idea of the people they will live with or for how long. Unimaginable. So well written and so easy to read.
