It has been my experience that my favourite albums are those which on first hearing I though OK but on repeat listenings have become more impressed with. This is certainly one of those - It is now up there with my absolute top 10 (when I can get it off my wife who is also blown away by it). Seeing Kris perform in Edinburgh with John McCusker and Roddy Woomble only reinforced what an amazing performer he is. His handling of so many tracks, including for example Beads and Feathers, shows an emotion and understanding of the song which sends shivers down your spine. He has not got a naturally powerful voice but still manages to produce vocals from the depth of his soul in the same way that José Carreras does in the world of opera. An Orcadian I spoke to recently said they are proud of him and I can see why. I therefore thoroughly recommend this album of traditional music from our islands to all of you who also have a soul.Read full review
