This is an excellent book for anyone interested in learning Japanese. It covers numbers, colours, family members, professions and a wide range of everyday items, such as sofa, airplane, mailbox. It is very good for teaching vocabulary but it not so good when it comes to sentence structure - this is not covered in the book. The book teaches important verbs but these are not given in example sentences. The book does not cover hiragana, katakana or kanji; and it is of little use to a person who is visiting Japan and only wants to learn necessary phrases. The book is good in that it provides words in English, romaji, and kanji. Also there is a big, double-spread picture on each page containing all the items mentioned in that section. Each item is shown separately around the edge of the picture, where it's definition and translation is stated. Great vocabulary-builder for beginners of Japanese - or for Japanese learners of English.Read full review
