An American girl discovers a love letter that changes her life in this romantic comedy starring Amanda Seyfried (MAMMA MIA!) and Vanessa Redgrave (ATONEMENT). The setting is Verona, Italy - the city where Romeo and Juliet first met. In Verona, there's a wall where the lovelorn leave notes, hoping that Juliet will answer their inquiries about love. Sophie (Seyfried) is part of a team of volunteers who respond to the letters. When Sophie answers a letter from 1957, the woman who wrote it (Redgrave) decides to seek out the one that got away (Redgrave's real-life love, Franco Nero û DJANGO), and romance starts to blossom all around.

An enjoyable and entirely engaging romance, Letters to Juliet sees Amanda Seyfried deliver a typically personable turn, forming a wonderful chemistry with co-star, Christopher Evans. Vanessa Redgrave gives a graceful and poignant performance as the elegant Claire searching for her Italian beau, and adds a huge dose of romance to this rom-com. Director, Gary Winick and screenwriters Jose Rivera and Tim Sullivan succeed in refreshing the old tale of 'true love', in a movie that is sure to convert any sceptic into a believer; there is no gore, no car chases, no gun fights or pratfalls - just one beautiful love story.
A true 'feel good' film, an excellent chick flick that I'd feel happy to watch time and time again. It was recommended to me by a friend and although and I am so pleased I purchased this. A really lovely story - slightly different to the usual love stories, beautiful scenery to look at (the setting of the film was in Italy) and an engaging cast of characters / actors. I loved it!
Great, with the exception of the Hollywood blond boy trying to act an Englishman.
Still, nothing's perfect, and we do have Vanessa Redgrave and Franco Nero.
Not hugely impressed by Amanda Seyfried but she's better than the blond boy.
