Lexx hooked me right from the beginning. If you took Doctor Smith (LOST IN SPACE) and made him the pilot of a living-organism spaceship (FARSCAPE), and added a dose of British sci-fi humor (RED DWARF), then you'd get LEXX. Of course, there's also the nude shower scene and lots of cannibalism. If you are squeamish about nudity or bloody body parts, best to avoid LEXX. Otherwise, it's great, and not just for men. The female lead, Xev, wears a very skimpy outfit, but she's intelligent, brave, and take-charge. Season One has both male & female villains. A worthy addition to a collection of science fiction series.
Well, I originally saw the Lexx 1st season when it aired on Sci-Fi channel(1999 or 2000, I think)...... I instantly fell in love with this show. Ever since, I wanted to buy it on DVD....So about a year ago I started looking for the original season one DVD versions which were going for no less than $200-$300 for the set of 4, from what I could find!! I'm so glad there is a reprint version of it now, that is actually affordable. I haven't watched the entire four DVD's, but so far can't tell a difference from the original version. Sure, I'd love to have the original print, but who cares really:) Just wanted to own one of the best shows ever! And yeah, some of the effects are cheesy, and some are excellent in this show. You'll find all of it quite endearing before long, and just adds to the character this movie is bursting with! If you don't like sci-fi, you still might like this show.......Warning though, it's VERY sexually charged throughout the entire span of all the seasons.... NOT a good show for kids, IMHO. I would normally say I could do without all that in a movie, but that's a big part of what makes this show so funny:) And if you like 1st season, you gotta watch all the seasons. The whole story is not complete without them. In my humble opinion, I give Lexx 1st season both thumbs up!Read full review
I absolutely loved the Lexx TV show when it was on SCI-Friday on the SciFi channel, along with Farscape and Stargate SG-1, but there were episodes that I hadn't seen yet, mainly the first season, so I've been looking for the DVD box set for sometime. I kept watching for it at the library but it never showed up so I finally got around to buying it and watching the first season movies in their entirety. I was not disappointed. Lexx is a very interesting and unique sci-fi show with intriguing characters including the beautiful Zev (played by Eva Haberman in the first season), Kai (the living-dead-man assassin, last of the race of the Brunnen-G), the dimwitted Stanley Tweedle, and the Lexx living insect spaceship (that can destroy a planet with one blast), not to mention the robot head 790 (who is ever infatuated with Zev and has some of the funniest one and two liners of all the characters). There are some great special effects in the show, lots of good humor, a ton of strangeness and some really bad dudes and dudettes. Overall, it's a lot of fun to watch and I give it two thumbs up (even though it's a Canadian/German production!). Kudos Halifax and Berlin!Read full review
Love this series back in the day and happy to see it again. The only downside is the video quality is not HD of course.

The Lexx Series started out from four installments on the Showtime network. The SciFi (SyFy) Channel picked it up later and went three more seasons. This DVD gives you the beginnings of the character development for the main characters. As a true Science-fiction fan; I highly recommend anyone interested in shows such as Battlestar Galactica (new one) or any franchise starting with "Star" to take a look at Lexx. The Writers and Producers did bring these characters to life with all of their Flaws on the table. I have the entire series, but had to purchase this again because I lent it out to a friend. The culmination in Season one is with the realization of the main characters that they have a bond which will keep them together for the rest of their existence.
