LIFE. The one word sums up many aspects of this film. Life as in what can happen to an individual (or individuals in this case), Life as in the prison sentance wrongly given to the two main characters, Life as in the struggle to get through difficult situations on a day to day basis, and Life as experienced in the few lighter moments depicted in this extremely funny yet touching and moving film. Having been found guilty for a crime they did not commit, Life is the story of how these two men grow old in a prison while the rest of the world changes almost without their knowledge. There is a very touching sequence in the film as some of the other characters "disappear" as the years go by which brings to a head the plight of these two happless indivuals. One of the funniest moments is towards the end of the film when the two main characters, now very old men are playing cards in a prison hospital. Well worth the wait. Overall the film follows a somewhat familiar pattern of wrongful arrest but the deviations from the norm make it quite unique in its own way. The delicate subject of racism is dealt with in such a clever manner that I defy anyone to find it offensive. The music chosen for the various sequences is absolutely spot on and in my opinion couldn't be better. A good all round film with a spattering of fruitful language which again is done in a such a way that the comedic approach far outways any real offence being taken.Read full review

If you only watch one movie in your life ever, it has to be this one. It is the funniest movie I have ever come across. It has sooo many one liners that will just crease you up with laughter. My husband & I watched this movie a few years back now and it still remains to be one our our top 10 movies of all time. If ever we see it on TV we have to watch it no matter how far into the film it is, even though we have it on DVD. Sounds sad but we always use certain catchphrases too that were in the film because they just stick like glue. Needless to say I love it but I wont go into detail as you HAVE to see it for yourself. So go now, right now, and watch it, even better buy it. Guaranteed to make your cheeks hurt from pure laughter. ENJOY!!!
