Lynne Robinsons Body Control Pilates promised much for all stages of fitness and for beginners to pilates and I would have to say this is not the case. Having got the dvd and myself ready for learning I pressed play and thats were the problems started, this dvd is Not for beginners and she kept telling me to do things in Pilate speak that I havent a clue what she was talking about! needless to say I gave up. I found this dvd to be frustrating for a beginner and frankly no use to anyone who wants 1, to learn how to do Pilates and 2, to get fitter because is too easy to give up when something isnt explained enough. I for one will have to go to a beginners class and have Pilates speak explained to me.
I had always been interested in Pilates and for the fact it tones your stomach muscles which mine was in desperate need of. I heard some of the moves can be quite tricky so decided to get this beginners guide. however i was highly disappointed, i understand a beginners guide is fairly easy but even my 4 year old cousin could have done this. The only thing shown on the dvd is breathing techniques and how your bones are aligned, other than that the 10 minute workout as they call it is just like a warm up before you begin a proper exercise class. i had already bought the advanced version of this before i watched the beginners so hopefully that might be a little bit more motivating. I recommend to anyone even starting out to go straight for the advanced as beginners guide is complete waste of time unless your totally thick ! xxRead full review
