Good points. It is a good intro book which covers the fonts and techniques. But the larger nib just doesn't allow the ink to flow and so you are really left with two fountain pens. I've attached an scanned image (medium quality), which shows how I manged when writing the alphabet as I would freely. (1) This is the thickest nib. Starts well, but the ink does not flow, and tends to just not produce a letter! (2) This is the medium nib. Not bad, though sometimes a bit rough on the paper. (3) Is my sheaffer pen. Not a posh one, cost around £8 If you want to take up calligraphy as a hobby (which I'm looking to do),then I'm sorry to say this is not the kit to buy. Maybe I got a bad kit, but if not, then I would save your cash. I feel very disappointing with parting with mine.,

Difficult to get ink flowing. I appreciate most new nibs are coated to protect them, but trying all the usual tricks like heating the nib or washing in hot water didn't work too well. Didn't distribute an even ink flow.

Great kit for beginners with a good range of nibs and 'instruction' book. Nibs can sometimes dry out during use, but a second piece of paper for scribbling helps.

It's a good kit, but the three ones I buyed reached me with the box like smashed potatoes. But the kit itself is very good, but lacks a bomb to fulfill the pen. Once I buyed one of theses in Brazil. It was a surprise to see it again in eBay.
