I am looking for inexpensive basic lens, without the macro feature. I bought the lens is manufactured in the late 1980s. Taking into account the age of the lens, it is in very good condition. The pictures are accurate and pleasing to the eye (at least for me). The bad is really noisy focus. After trying out the lens I would not buy it but I would rather have Minolta AF 100-400 mm f/4.5-5.6 APO Lens or a similar (Sony, Tamron, Sigma).
High quality APO lens made in Japan and pre-digital. Smooth and oooozes quality even with the 1st time you pick it up. Actually smaller than you would think and has a solid well made feel to it. The proof is in the final picture and knocks spots of most current zoom lenses made for Sony alpha DSLRs.

No disappointment whatsoever with the famed bokeh of this lens, but it struggles when using the fast auto features of Sony's new SLT cameras.
