Thoughtfully and posthumously published in book format, this is a collection of the Vanity Fair magazine writings. Christopher Hitchens writes with savage honesty and poignancy about the illness that would ultimately take his life, but never his many written gifts to humankind. He stands with us still, thankfully, because we need him more than ever. Never mawkish, Hitchens takes us through the grim gamut of his personal experiences with cancer. He bares his beautiful soul (not in the spiritual sense!) and I found this life affirming in its craft and nobility.
