It is not glossed up with pretty colourful pictures but if you are serious about cooking and starting from grass roots up to high standard, this is the literature to get you there. It has certainly clarified for me cooking terminology and something I was extremely weak on, sauces. Two minor things that were relevant to me but other information within this book, everything you wanted to know about the potato and the delicious dishes you can produce from them. Vegetables I had never heard of, the information is all there, what a reference guide and recipe book.
