The game feel is incredibly satisfying whether you're in hack 'n' slash or shooter mode with every impact feeling absolutely mighty. There's definitely real depth to the mechanics, too, but somewhat less than other Platinum games and you aren't really required to get good at the game to progress. Normal difficulty is fairly easy, though hard is a tremendous leap up. The story is fantastic and uniquely told. New game+ is handled better than past Yoko Taro games with significant new additions to the gameplay as well as the story. It's to the point where NG+ is mandatory to see the story through but it really just feels like additional chapters. You won't be revisiting much content at all. As for the story itself, there are some minor hiccups in pacing and setup but they are very minor indeed. It takes a number of familiar sci-fi themes, existentialism, whether learning AI is "alive", etc, but presents them in an interedting way. What look to be a number of tropey JRPG elements are roundly turned on their head, too. Also the soundtrack is absurdly good. Buy it.Read full review
