The Nikon 16-80mm f2.8-4G AF-S VR ED DX Lens has quickly become a favourite, its fast autofocus and wide aperture make it ideal for indoor work without flash. The VR seems to work well and it produces excellent results. Recommended.

I had the 8-15mm fisheye zoom before but the circular image is rarely useful. It was also a nuisance to have to remove the hood first and make the front element even more vulnerable. AF-S is not necessary for fisheye with little focusing to do, just a matter when it will break down. Fisheye zoom barrel is mainly plastic and made in Thailand. On the contrary, this 16mm fisheye is more basic but ideal. Metal hood is integrated so just remove the plastic cap. AF-D is all I need with no SWM to break (actually could have survive on MF AI-S which lacks CRC). This is more solid, and built in Japan! When I first took it out of the box, I was marvelled at how compact and dinky it actually is compared to the fisheye zoom! So is the price tag. Mine came with box and all 4 filters (no wallet but not essential). The main issue is that image can somehow be seen juddering in viewfinder during AF along the 1 & 6 o'clock axis (MF is smooth and no problem). As this lens is not meant for action and AF tracking, I suppose this is minor? So far very pleased with it!Read full review

The lens is light and if you know what you are doing the photos will be interesting. It´s a fun lens to work with.

A lens I have bought and sold over the years but keep coming back to it. Not something you need every day, but when it's a creative day it is perfect. Nice curves at the edges and the with 180 degree of diagonal field of view with luck you get your feet in the picture too, or a tripod leg!
This is an excellent lens. It is compact, sharp, and the fish-eye distortion gives interesting effects, especially on architecture. View is almost 180 degrees. There is very little vignetting too, even on an FX camera. Of course you can't add a filter because of the curvature of the lens, but even without a polarizer images are well saturated and I have some really blue skies. Superb.
