I have never spent this much before in a pair of binoculars but I have to say it’s worth the cost . Best feature is the close range focus ,down to about ten feet along with excellent clarity Only issue is the eye cap covers are a poor fit and don’t stay in place unlike the front lens covers which work well ? All in all a good value

Good optics and smooth focus. Not lightweight, but at about 700grams not too heavy and the weight reflects the excellent build quality. Also looked at Hawke Frontier ED, Vortex Viper HD and RSPB HDX which had similar specification - but at £229 the Nikon Monarch 5 represented the best value. I also have a pair of Monarch 8 x 42 which are great for bird watching in the garden - the larger image of the 10 x 42 gives greater detail and allows closer inspection of distant objects with marginally more shake when focussing. Both binoculars are an excellent choice and the 8 x 42 are probably best for general use, although there is not a great deal of difference. I have owned Zeiss and Swarovski binoculars and whilst experts will undoubtedly disagree, I find that these are just as good.

Ive been bird watching for several years using small binoculars with limited success. I decided to splash out on a decent pair and Boy are These it. They have Fantastic optics with a large field of view so you can catch birds in flight almost easily Fantastc Pair of Binoculars.

Superb value for money! My Swarovski 8.5x42 will be daddy's first choice- but then it costs 6 times as much. I initially bought the Nikon Monarch 10x42 as the "family binoculars"- to be used by lesser mortals- like the wee wife and the kids. And how they love it! But now I have a confession to make: This one is not THAT far beyond the Swarovski. At a fraction of the price. So- my advice to you is: If you are considering to buy a really decent pair of binoculars and don't have £2,000 in your back pocket; try this one first. You might just be entirely happy with it.
