Very easy to use, just point and pull the trigger to measure the surface temperature where the LED beam falls. You can also hold the trigger in and sweep across a wall or ceiling to find cold spots. Use it on a household or car radiator to spot air locks and even on your cooked food. Uses economical AA batteries and auto shuts off so no need to worry about using loads of batteries. Seems well made. You can switch off the LED pointing beam which can be handy around pets, and it has a suitable backlight so it's easy to use in poor light.

This works well when taking race car tyre temperatures immediately after returning from track in test session. We use it as an aid to setting up optimum suspension settings - the temperature of the tyre tread should be the same all across the tread to ensure the tyre is working the best it can - it indicates how tyre pressures corner weights and wheel camber angles need to be adjusted. Saw one being used at Chichester Festival of Speed to check temperatures of headers on a pre-war 16 cylinder Auto Union GP car - presumably checking for even fuel mixture across all cylinders. Works fast and is versatile with a veritable plethora of uses, most unknown to me.

Bought 2 samples, 1 didn't work very well, screen kept displaying an 'H' not in instruction sheet then stopped after 1 day, the other lasted 3 weeks then the display just froze, I pointed at a clothes iron from about 8 feet. The lasers on both did not point accurately to the target to be scanned.
