First caught Nurse Jackie on BBC2, when Series One screened every night at 10pm in 1/2 hour slots, totally seduced, just what the Doctor ordered! Addicted from the first episode & entertained & enthralled by Edie Falco, who's performance as the tough New Yorker Nurse is outstanding. The show is a slick, 'quick fix' of American TV Soap Drama, 6ft Under meets the pace of ER. Enjoyed all the characters within the show & the relationships between the Doctors & Nurses and their lucky or unlucky patients & family. Opening titles & music great, I believe from Showtime (Dexter). Alongside the hard-hitting, hard-faced Nurse Jackie at work, you are privy to her family home life, with her husband & daughters and ............... (you'll have to watch the show, I can't possibly divulge the good bits) The pace throughout the series builds & you can hear the ticking of the time-bomb, evoking fears & concerns for Nurse Jackie, in relation to both her work & home life. I await patiently for Series 2 like Nurse Jackie, I too am deeply in need of my next fix.Read full review
Very entertaining - very witty and thought provoking. Highly recommended. It was described as being like Scrubs (which I never got into because it was silly) and Grey's without the drama (but I love Grey's). I loved Nurse Jackie because it was real and Jackie's sense of humour could be dry. The doctor is excellent as well. Very funny and charming.
This show provides the perfect element of escapism after a full day of Life in London. Since the episodes are only 30 minutes, you can take the sarcasm and swearing pessimism in small, palatable doses, and then get on with a much happier real life.
