Suddenly decided I needed a semi-extreme wide angle lens for my old Lumix G1 but couldn't stretch to the £400+ Panasonic offering. I read a few favourable reviews about this compatible lens and took the plunge, especially as it has a 52mm filter thread as per all my other Panasonic lenses. What a cracking lens it is... sharp as razor, very little distortion - especially if the camera is set "straight on" to the subject, fast enough for this old codger to hand-hold in relatively low light, and a dream to handle in general. The locking mechanism to collapse the barrel is novel but no hindrance whatsoever and is only necessary to close the lens for storage. Managed to pick up a compatible JJC lens hood for a song a few days later so happy days. If you can find a good secondhand one like I did, you won't be disappointed.Read full review

I have only just bought the lens so cant tell the durability. The image quality is very good. The barrel unlock switch is a pain especially where it is situated for me being a left hander. I cant see any reason to have the lens lock. This lens lock is not good.

There are few occasions when I will need a wide angle lens. For this reason I didn't want to spend much on a wide angle lens. In the MicroFourThird this was the cheapest. It has the added benefit of being the smallest. For a lens that will see minimal use, small and light is an advantage as it will be sitting in my bag most of the time. Especially when going on holiday. The major advantage of this is F4-5.6. I don't expect good low light performance. Also lack of optical stabilization. I have a Panasonic camera.

This is a great little lens that I bought to complement my 12-32 Panasonic lens because I sometimes want a wider angle of view. It's a good sharp performer, collapses small and neat, and it's incredibly light compared with full frame lenses - the beauty of M43rds. The ability to add a 52mm filter is a boon even if a polarizing filter will show big differences of darkening across a wide view of the sky. The best are split neutral density filters which retain sky highlights while allowing the foreground to be correctly exposed, giving a greater apparent tonal scale. I use it on the Panasonic GX80 which has no anti-aliasing filter and takes full advantage of the lens's capabilities. Another factor, which I didn't appreciate for some time, is that the GX80 (and older cameras like the G5 on electronic shutter) does not suffer from shutter shock which greatly affects the image sharpness because of movement blur. All together I'm very happy with this addition to my growing M43rds lens arsenal.Read full review

This is a great lens if you need wide angle. Large aperture so very fast. Great for landscapes and internal house shots. Lens was received as new with no signs of wear
