As good as expected at a reasonable price. First step had a non-structural split but this one was discarded by cutting to length so not an issue. The minimum ceiling height for this ladder is stated as 2.35m. My ceiling height is 2.31m but it works ok. A few cm less and the cut would be at step level. Lack of preparation in my part meant I did not level the frame properly. I ended up securing two battens widthwise to support the edge of the frame, relaxing the screws holding the frame to my subframe and tightening up the batten screws to achieve perfect level with the ceiling. Re-drilled pilot holes, and fixed using coach screws. The hatch face is about 10mm lower than the ceiling so using 11 MDF makes a flush surround. The steps are so easy to set in place and the springs are suitable strong to counter the weight. Positive locking mechanism. A good purchase.Read full review

Initially I thought what a great buy but when you unpack it you soon realise how cheaply it is made.. Cheap finish all round and the hatch will have to be painted as the coating is marked already. You get what you pay for in life so if you want a cheap loft ladder go for it but pay the extra and get a superior quality one..

The product looks and feels to be worth every penny. This is the first time I have fitted an item like this and I have to say, it is best carried out by two people rather than one. The instructions are pretty awful really,,despite the fact they were pictures rather than printed word. I put those aside but didn't lose them. The protective hardboard sheet supplied to protect the face of the loft hatch facia in trasnport is exactly the same size as the product. I used it as a template for marking out the hole I needed to cut in my ceiling, I also used it to size and build a seperate box recepticle in the roofspace hole and dropped the Optistep ladder assembly into it and screwed it to my box receptical. The steps work well but the last job is to cut the legs to the correct length, this is very important and it's the point where you really should take note of the pictures in the instructions.. It's a good product and a good price, if I ever moved house, I would fit another. Read full review

excellent quality, i have fitted other makes of this type of loft ladder, including one at home, the Optistep is the best,Clear instructions, quiet in operation, steps are arranged so you do not trap your hand when folding ladder, and choice of width and length to fit any size opening if restricted by pipes, trusses etc. I will be changing my one at home (560 x 1100) for the Optistep 680 x 1100, Recommended

brilliant - for less than £100 gives freedom of the loft - I can say to any casual visitor -please will you pop this or that into the loft for me. And ofcourse the reverse 'please will you get x /y/z from the lloft for me. an absolute godsend for those with limited mobility and easy enough to just open hatch and slide the ladder down and a slight push puts it back into the loft space leaving only an apparently normal loft hatch visible - no heaving around of step ladders and leaping from their top into the void. having seen and pulled up and down mine my neighbour has ordered one and even my builders -who have put their tools up in the loft are talking about getting one for themselves!!
