Well made film era unit that can tilt and swivel. Designed for Pentax film cameras but still usable with modern Pentax DSLRs. You would need to check compatibility with other makes wrt the auxiliary contacts. Needs a little expertise to use, this is not a basic unit with just an on-off switch. Three criticisms - (1) the battery door catch is a weakness and could break without care (as it is on many flash units, no matter what you pay) (2) it sets dedicated Pentax cameras to sync speed with no option for slow speed sync (3) it is not as powerful as I'd like, could have done with a Guide Number around 35 like some of its rivals.

An excellent flash for all those sick of p-TTL :) Built like a brick outhouse. Excellent performer indoors, direct, or bounced, so unless you NEED HSS or the fill in capability of a very expensive (10x the price of this) Pentax or Metz PTTL flash - stick to this. It is a bit chunky, yes, other than that it beats any allegedly p-TTL enabled knock offs hands down when set on one of two AUTO modes in terms of exposure accuracy (it does not, after all, rely on the camera to calculate it, it just sets the aperture depending on the ISO you set on your Pentax camera and does the rest with its own sensor and circuitry). pre-PTTL era TTL works just fine on film bodies too. It would also work in auto mode on virtually any hot shoe camera as long as you can set the shutter speed and F number on it. If you can't - don't buy it. :) If you can - you can use it yourself and lend it to your friends with film bodies and all sorts of cameras if you have any and impressed they shall be! Don't waste money on small weird branded allegedly PTTL-dedicated units. get this instead for half the price. It would have been even better if the GN was a bit higher (36? 40?), after all Nissin did the 360TW with similar capabilities but GN36. Nissin would not set the aperture for you on a Pentax, however. Well, you can't have everything.Read full review
This is really, honestly, just what I wanted. I have other flashes but this is just as described. Some are too complicated...leading curtain; trailing curtain...etc there are times you don't need those complications. It can deal with my old pentaxes and my K100D, so with my 260SA I'm covered. Bounce very good. Quick recharge. Can't fault it - and wasn't too expensive either. Brilliant!!
