an update to the old " spud " peeler that was in the kitchen drawer Cast your mind back to when you were a child...it may have been your grandparents kitchen drawer or the one in your kitchen but the must go tools were a Tin Opener and a Potato Peeler they both did their job they both stayed the same design and made from the same materials Mild Steel and Wood,,,,,, Then they started to change in the late 70s and most people have a butterfly tin opener and a "Y" type peeler but someone hasnt forgot the old designs and one of them is responsible for this or should l say these peelers Made of Stainless steel and with a sturdy solid plastic handle they have stepped into the 21st century as regards the materials they are made of ...No more jamming of the cutting blade like eventually happens on the Y type....these old style but revamp peeler do a great job...abd the do more peeling than just spuds ..........plus they dont break the bank Read full review

It may,of course, be me, but after using the peeler about 3 times, the blade parted company from the handle. As this happened with all 3 of them, it's not an isolated incident. The problem lies with the fact that the blade is merely pushed into a slot in the plastic handle which flexes in use allowing the blade to pull free. The blade is only pushed 1cm into the handle, which is totally inadequate, it can be pulled out with the fingers. I cannot see an easy and secure fix to prevent this so cannot recommend this item.

There is nothing better than a traditional Lancashire Peeler for peeling your spuds. These are good quality and excellent value. Although they look traditional, the plastic moulded handle is a nice feature, comfortable to use and there's no chance of your favourite implement falling apart when the binding comes unravelled.

old style not good thing to use, bought on a nostalgic whim but not as much use as the more modern peelers

An excellent addition to my knife drawer. My mother had one for over 50years. The only difference is the whipping on handle is nylon the old one was string. To be recommended
