After a couple of practises at cutting a mortise I sallied forth on some white oak pieces and completed sixteen perfect mortises in two and a half hours. A piece that I expected to take a week (I usually cut everything by hand) has been finished in two days. From a price point of view this Lumberjack mortiser might be called a budget machine. This would be true if I was building a professional/industrial workshop to earn a living. However, for my own occasional/semi frequent use I find this very solid machine (nearly 40 kg) well up to the job and I recommend it.

Solid, heavy and well built bit of kit. Identical in looks to an Axminster model. Performs really well and quietly too. I also use this as a bench drill with the axminster converter.

Very heavy, well made piece of kit. Instruction manual is very vague, there are several screws that have to be loosened to allow movement of the table and press which are not mentioned. Correctly fitting the chisel is quite fiddly. Had to grease all the runners to get table moving smoothly. Overall though, very pleased.
