I bought this only because it was chosen for my Book Group. It's probably the worst book the group has had to read. The initial bits about the heroine's (Sarah) early years are fairly clunky & one-dimensional, but manageable and the topic of sexual slavery/trafficking is topical in the media. Then the hero, Michael, came on the scene. He was obviously supposed to be a really good human being, but he came over as smug, self-righteous and domineering. Clearly you shouldn't dislike a book because you dislike a character, but Michael personified the author's attitude & ethos. She/he is right because her/his god told her so - much like a jihadi. Michael has conversations with God - or are they the voices in the head of a sociopath. Billy Graham meets Mills & Boon .
