I bought this after seeing part of the TV adaptation, enjoying what I saw, but really wanting to understand the story in the depth only the book can provide.I find I can't read books after I have seen the screen version in full as you already know the basic story, but the details are often so different it just gets frustrating to sort it all out in your head. I have really enjoyed this book. It is very well written, intelligent and believable, but not a difficult read. I'm glad I didn't see ALL the TV version as it is different (as book adaptations always are) but I CAN picture the actors (who were all excellent) as I'm reading the book which really adds to it.
An exciting WW2 spy story, told from the perspective of a mother and a daughter. It keeps you guessing until the end. It tells two stories in parallel, 1939-42 and the present time (which is 1976).

The book is obviously very old. Pages are very yellowed. Although this was a good price I would have paid more to get a book with white pages!
