Plenty to keep young adults (of all ages) entertained for many hours. Most pieces are moulded black, sails are grey and some details in brown or gold. The kit is designed to be clicked or pushed together. Some pieces, such as the rigging/shrouds WILL need glued. I could not get a perfect join at the bows (may be my fault) although all the major pieces join extremely neatly. The instructions are in colour 3D and very clear to follow, but some pieces are fiddly and the eyes and hands of an experienced plastic-kit modeller would be useful. The parts all need cut from the runners and sanded or filed a hint to remove the burrs. The stand is clever and pushes in place into holes out of sight underneath the hull (very smart). Good wood-effect detail on the hull and decks. Other detail is reasonably good and never bad. The cannon ports in the lower deck are all moulded open. To be honest, I have never seen much of the POTC films, but I believe this is an accurate representation of the ship. It is, however, just a lovely model of a sailing ship and could be painted for display. It is about 10" long and high, so quite compact. At around £20 it is not that cheap a kit. I noticed tiny DISNEYs embossed on the sails (largely out of sight), so the price may be more than Revell would like to charge due to rights (but I don't really know). The same company produces several more elaborate and time-consuming kits of other sailing ships for less (at least, they are sold for less). What I liked most about this kit is that it was fun to build, which is why it received 5 stars instead of 4.Read full review

Having not built a kit for quite some time, I really enjoyed this one. The moulding detail is excellent and required very little trimming after removal from the sprues. Generally the snap together joins work really well, but for some of the smaller parts, I found that slightly enlarging the holes and gluing worked better. Painting is optional, as stated on the box and in the instructions, but painting really transforms this kit, because the mouldings are so detailed. I used a matt black spray for most of the parts (many of the mouldings are already black but a bit shiny for realism) then the recommended Revell colours for dry brushing and detailing. I also added some rigging (£1.50 from a model ship website) to complete the effect. Please don’t listen to the “one star warriors” who expect everything to be perfect and easy. ANY kit will need some effort and concentration to get it right, isn’t that why we build them?Read full review

The kit is rubbish pegs don’t align. The fit is really bad my kit went in to the bin. Not even worth one star

The product itself is ok the only issue is it says no painting needed but it turns out I quite a lot of stuff needs to be painted and some objects are a little bit flimsy
