pretty useless as it relies on a rubber friction washer to lock. the grooves do nothing. the handle has to be overtightened for it to grip and even then the boom arm will still creep during a shoot. this is supposed to be offset by using weights/sand bags but this usually results in exceeding the weight limit of the bracket and/or the boom. the only reliable grips are the metal ones. these at most are only useful for gripping small lighweight diffusion panels or gobos. nothing more.
