The samsung BD-P4600 blue-ray player even though superceded by later models has a unique look which in itself sets it apart as something special. It has i believe suffered from a problem whereby it will not always load all discs all of the time,i found it worth obtaining units sold for spares as an easy answer to this as all internal parts are easily swapped untill a sollution is found.Well worth the effort.
Basically this item should be avoided, no wonder it's been discontinued as it doesn't work

Just love it to bits with its glossy finish and wall hanging its great and for playing hi def movies car'nt fault it either
After having searched the internet and high street shops for a decent blu ray player, I was directed to the BD-P4600 as my HDTV and Sky+HD are Samsung. The thing that attracted me was the super slim casing and the complimenting Samsung colour (the dark red glow around the sides of the player). Setting up the player was fine, though you need to buy a HDMI lead as it doesn't come with one. The player is advertised to have PC streaming capability but does not come with the wireless dongle which you would need if your wireless router is away from your TV/Player. It can be connected via LAN cable without any problems. The manual talks you through how to connect to your home network to enable streaming from your PC/laptop but what it doesn't tell you is that when you're prompted for the username and password, it's NOT the windows username and password that you use to log on to your PC/laptop. You need to enter the router's user name and password. I only found this out after emailing Samsung. Other than that, the quality of the player is great with 1080p up-scaling. Ordinary DVD's are given more clarity and blu ray discs are fantastic. Some people on other site reviews have commented about the sound of the fan when playing BD's or DVD's. At first the sound is noticeable but after the disc settles the sound is barely heard what with the sound playing on the TV. The player comes with a small stand which elevates it at an angle if placing on a TV stand, otherwise, it can be wall mounted. The relevant brackets are supplied with the player. All in all, I'm pleased with the purchase and would recommend to anyone who is looking for a sleek and stylish player to compliment their HDTV.Read full review
This player looks incredible and was chosen primarily to wall mount below a matching Samsung LCD screen. The appaling lip sync was very easily remedied by a firmware download. The picture quality is incredible and the BD wise connection to the screen means a single remote and automatic picture optimisation. The only remianing downside is the fan noise mentioned by others. Even this is no longer too much of an issue and was reduced, but not eliminated, by using foam pads between the mounting bracket and the wall. All in all a very good player but its quirks need working around.
