This is the first smartphone I have owned and I have thoroughly warmed to it. I made the jump after breaking my Nokia N93 and looked at the iPhone, Nokia's smartphone and the HTC range I decided against the iPhone as it seemed that you were paying a premium just for the name, and eventually settled on this one largely because of the size of the screen which I reckoned would make it more of a handheld computer. The all-plastic construction makes it very light yet it is not cheap and tacky. The glass screen is amazing - a month's heavy use and not the slightest mark on it, a screen protector is redundant. It is on the large size but not so large it is cumbersome, and this makes viewing TV and video a decent alternative to an actual TV, the screen is some whizzy wonder technology which gives fantastic quality. Disadvantages - the Android range of apps is nowhere near as good as the iPhone's, but this should change given the involvement of Google and now Amazon's launch of a competitor to the iPad. I note that there are only a few SatNav apps for example, and TomTom and Garmin are not among them. In the end, Apple is just one manufacturer and there are several big names signed up to Android, so the situation should improve. It does suck power out of the battery at an amazing rate (the size and quality of the screen being one of the factors), but I gather the iPhone does this as well. You do need a spare battery hanging around, and you do need to remember to switch off WiFi, GPS and other stuff to save power. When running CoPilot satnav in the car I notice it consumes power faster than the car-charger supplies it. It's irritatingly easy to switch off and on when you're trying to manipulate it and I keep clicking on apps by accident, I don't know how this compares to the iPhone. The instructions that come with this phone are laughable, amounting to little more than how to put the battery in and switch it on - it took me several tries to find out how to answer a call. It's pretty easy to figure out, but I feel I'm not getting everything out of it that I could. Basically it's held back by the relative paucity of Android apps and the silly instruction manual, but all in all I really like it. It's become a second TV and has completely replaced my collection of Ordnance Survey maps - super app called Back Country Navigator for £6.20 enables you to download OS maps for the whole country to use offline. Oh, it's a pretty good phone too. (Tip, if you buy this phone - get a desk stand for it as well so you can prop it up to watch TV - I got one for £1.98. Also, get a high capacity battery - I got one for £3.25 and it seems to be holding up fine. And a car charger...)Read full review
Bought the phone for my mum, she needs 1 that is simple to use (idiot proof, don't tell her I said that) Its an easy screen for her to follow, and find what she is looking for, and she is totally happy with it. The only thing I found bad about the phone was the charge port, its quite loose. But we work round that little problem.

This phone is a doddle to use and install apps and the like from your pc unlike the iphones that need itunes and its restrictions. The phone was bought as a replacement for my iphone 3gs as i decided that the move to a 4s over the samsung was not worth the extra money as the samsung is excellent value for money. The only con i can really think of is the battery life but that is easily sorted through after market products.
Great phone, fast, loads of memory, really like the front facing camera especially for video calls. Feels good in your hand and it is so thin. Amazing 8 MP camera. Would definitely recommend.
