Correctly used this extractor is an excellent tool. It is well made and does the job very well. I took out the two old rusted studs which I bought this for with relative ease.

A well-made tool that works, providing the stud you are trying to extract is willing to come out and not seized or corroded in place - in which case you could have used two nuts locked together and a spanner. One point to note is that if you can get this tool onto the stud in question, then you can almost certainly get a footprint wrench onto it too. If you just want something to grab and remove studs from working engines then its fine. If you are looking to remove damaged studs from rusty components then heat and the aforementioned footprint are your only friends....

item is too heavy for use in even slightly confined areas. Here i had to use it upside down on an exhaust stud but the tool would slip from the small diameter opening to the large and therefore fail to grip; there is also too much "lost motion". Any tool will work on the bench but this one failed to help me "in the field". A small Stilsons and Footprints were more effective.

poor steel steel used for locking cog, teeth fail or do not grip every time definitely lets down the brand

The product seems to be of very good quality, although it is very big. Unfortunately, the tool does not work with thin studs ( 10mm), so I will have to find another tool.
