I needed a new bathroom light fitting to replace the exttremely old one that failed (the sort of thing that Drew Pritchard buys cheap and sells for a mint). Although cheaper ones are available, they do tend to look their price whereas this one is a substantial unit and looks like a good quality fitting. There were two issues with it; first is that the shiny oval metal disk that holds the light bars has an edge like a knife and it's easy to slice into a finger when handling it. The other is that it only seems to be offered with halogen bulbs. In these days of energy savings it would make more sense to offer an LED version. I bought a pack of cream white LEDs to replace the energy guzzling halogens, which obviously added to the price. There's no compromise in brightness, in fact the four lights may be too much for a small bathroom as they throw out a lot of light but being able to direct the beams means the light can be spread around. It is perfect for lighting up the usually shady space behind the shower curtain since it peeps over the top. The grips on the individual lamps allows easy control for angling the fittings and the bar design gives a lot of flexibility. I can't say the fitting is in keeping with this 1930 house but I bought it for practicality and not authenticity and on that count it is a big improvement. If you are looking for a good quality, flexible and bright bathroom light fitting then I don't think you will go too far wrong with this one, even if it does cost a bit more than some of the rival units on Amazon.Read full review
