This is what Seiko call a capacitor to power their Kinetic range of watches. Once you have one of these watches you must treat it like an automatic watch because the capacitor/battery will discharge itself if not worn for sometime and it can be difficult to bring it back to full power again. Changing the capacitor is not a simple operation as changing a normal battery on a watch involves removing the main rotor so don't try this unless your feel confident there are four screws to loose if you are not are not careful. What is missing from the kit is a main watch cover seal which I thought would be included.

Seiko kinetic repaired now. The capacitor worked straight from the packet, fitted and got the watch working like when it was new. Don’t forget to handle the new capacitor with plastic tweezers, you don’t want to short it out.
