Although this rod is an older model and there are lots of newer models available, I purchased this rod after some research and reading of reviews. I took the rod out for its first session the day after buying. I thought the rod appeared quite tippy and very light and we'll finished. I started off the session light waggler fishing for silvers. Although called a pellet waggler the rod responded amicably to this. I caught a full net of silvers without a single hook pull. I next decided to rig up a little heavier with the pellet wag. The rod cast a range of wagglers to different weights really well and without issue. However I wondered if the tippyness of the rod would cope with the hard fighting carp. There was absolutely no need to worry. Although it is a tippy rod capable of light float fishing for silvers it has plenty of backbone in the lower sections to handle carp. I caught carp upto 8lb without issue. I'm really pleased with the rod, I have rods costing three times the amount of the Shakespeare but I wouldn't say they are better. All in all a great rod, highly recommend!!!.Read full review

This rod is great value for money and performs very well with a medium weight pellet float. Casts very easily and handles diving carp very well. Very light and a good reel seating. Have not used heavier pellet floats yet but I feel confident it won't be a problem.

Looks and feels great but I haven't had a chance to use it yet. If it's as good as Angling Mails review says it is, I won't be disappointed. I'm itching to find out!
