I currently own a similar calculator to this called the Casio fx-991EX. It has about the same number of functions (over 500) as this one so they are very similar in both price and features. However the Sharp EL-506B has a much sharper contrast display. The package of the Casio fx-991EX shows it with a stunning sharp contrasted display. However, when you turn it on it's very weak. I tried adjusting the contrast and it's as high as it can go before the whole display turns dark. I purchased the Sharp used for half the price of the Casio new and I really like it. It's now my go-to calculator. The display is clear and easy on the eyes. It's a great inexpensive calculator. Hundreds of functions and it has a well laid out design. Mine is black and it's easy to read the text printed under the keys as well. I recommend this calculator for more advanced students, mathematicians or engineers. I recommend any of the three line Sharp "Write-View," calculators. If you're only working on GCSE then I recommend a calculator with fewer functions which will make it much easier to use as the GCSE exams don't require 556 functions. They will only get in the way. Oddly I found some of the Casio Calculators with fewer functions have better displays than one I have. Maybe it's just a dud? Cheers!Read full review
