Having had experience of several versions of this shutter release it does the job... All MC-DC2 have the same weak point at the connection to camera end ..As long as you avoid putting any lateral stress when handling and only push in and out then this will last a long time.... Its reliable and does what is expected at the click of a button (excuse the pun) it has the hold lock for bulb mode so you can do ultra long exposures to your hearts content.... All around a nice cheap product ..Well recommended

Does exactly what it says on the tin...and doesn't time out constantly like the wireless one .... Just watch you don't get all over excited when your using it and push the button forward and lock the shutter. I thought I'd fecked the camera but it was just ignoring me pushing buttons cause it was still taking a picture...

I have previously had mixed results trying to do 'bulb' long exposures ( yes, operator stupidity more than very likely). I have also read that you cant get a remote shutter release for the Nikon D3100, it works well. Very keenly priced, is it robust enough to last a lifetime, I don't know - if your worried buy two :-), cheap enough for a spare. I'm not a major user, or photographer, but its fine for me.

Works well, simple, can't see it breaking anytime soon. My only fault for it is half and full button press isn't too well defined, but is easy to get used to.
