This lens is idealy suited for use with Digital C size sensors and full frame digital or in my case, film camera's. I wanted one which would give me an incredible 12mm on 35mm cameras and be equally useable on digital at an equivalent of 18mm. I knew the lens was well made and incidentally it was a Nikon Fit not Minolta, Note that when using it with C Size sensor you can screw a filter into the first stage lens cap adaptor and it will not vignette. It was in superb condition, and my only reservation is the inability to use Professional graduated filters to control bright skies in lanscapes, and no screw in filters when used on 35mm or full frame digital without vignetting. It's not a fisheye and with care architectural shots can maintain verticals without convergance etc. I reckon it will hold it's value and remember it will work with a wide range of Nikon Cameras from F75 through F80, F100 etc. up to the latest digital Nikons and I believe even with the Nikon F4, which when first delivered to the market didn't have any AFS lenses to use with it for another 3 years. A bit of Forward Compatibility there from Nikon ! EndRead full review

I was looking for a wide angle zoom lens for use on my EOS 5D it amazed me how little choice there is for full frame sensors, Canon offer a 16-35mm and a 14mm prime lens. I came across the Sigma on a camera web site and was impressed by the test report. On buying the lens and trying it out I was even more impressed, at 12mm it produces less distortion than my 24-70 f2.8L lens does at 24mm, the build quality is easily on a par with Canon L grade lenses, and the auto focus nearly as good, so close you cannot tell a difference. This is the first non Canon lens I have bought (only because Canon don't offr anything in this range) and might not be the last. A superb product, superb build and produces superb images.
Widest lens for canon. Great! When used with a 35mm or full-frame digital SLR camera, this ultra wide angle zoom lens offers 122 degree super wide angle of view along the diagonal axis. Four Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass elements are provided for effective compensation of colour aberration, which is a common problem with super-wide angle lenses. Two pieces of moulded glass and three aspherical lenses, including two molded glass aspherical lens elements, offer excellent correction for linear distortion as well as all types of aberration. It is an ideal lens for Digital SLR Cameras as well as film SLR cameras. This lens is equipped with a fixed Petal-type hood to obtain a superior extraneous light-blocking effect.
Purchased this lens to be used with two Canon bodies. 5D and 1DMKII N. When Wide open, on Full-frame, use of this Sigma lens has to be carefully planned or else severe and uncorrectable distortion will be the result. That's not a negative comment. In some circumstances that can be part of the creative process so its not a dislike! On a 1.3 Crop sensor such as the 1D range, this lens provides a very welcome wide angle and is both contrasty and sharp. The lens cover is threaded 82mm and it is tempting to buy and fit the usual variety of UV, and Polarizing filters. The result will be disappointing and vignetting will be obvious. Don't buy any filters until you have tried and evaluated the results. To protect the lens, use the lens cover at all times. Highly recommended! but then again, there are no real alternatives when using these camera bodies. Enjoy...Read full review
