This is their first album & is an historic representation of their development - the record did not do well at the time but contained their breakthrough track (Sounds of Silence). It also demonstrates their incredible ability to harmonise & Pauls strong writing talent. A very good and treasured purchase.
Bought the CD as it's Simon & Garfunkel's first CD and it completes my Collection and it wasn't very expensive. Interesting to listen to Simon & Garfunkel's first album. Not all the titles are by Paul Simon, but it is still a good album. The vocal harmonising is as good as ever.
AT TIMES 'THE TWO ANGRY YOUNG MEN', VERY MUCH IN THEIR OWN UNIQUE WAY, SPELL OUT IN NO UNCERTAIN TERMS THE FUTILITY OF WAR. FROM THAT THEY SWITCH TO LAZY SUMMER SUNDAY AFTERNOON FEELINGS WITH 'SOUND OF SILENCE', BUT STILL THERE'S THAT EDGE BEHIND IT, THAT LET'S YOU KNOW THIS IS NOT A 'FLUFFY SONG', THERE IS A SURE AND CERTAIN MESSAGE BEHIND AND WITHIN IT! AS FOR 'SPARROW', IT BREAKS MY HEART, IT ABSOLOUTELY 'DOES FOR ME' EVERYTIME! QUITE OFTEN NOW I HAVE TO SKIP OVER IT, BECAUSE EVERY TIME, IT MAKES ME CRY AND I'M FED UP WITH GOING INTO TESCOS WITH A TEAR STAINED FACE AND STILL TRYING TO CATCH MY BREATH! I KNEW AS SOON AS I SAW THE COVER I WANTED THIS FOR A REASON, I HAVE NO IDEA HOW I EVEN CAME ACROSS IT TO BE HONEST, BUT I'M SO GLAD I DID. IT REMINDS ME WHY I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED THEM TOGETHER AND INDIVIDUALLY FOR SO SO MANY YEARS.Read full review
