This is a really strong album with a generally floaty dreamy feel that seems to be quite exclusively a slowdive thing. An album that I imagine is left playing and not track skipped, as it is fairly consistent in both mood and quality. It is frequently melancholy and sometimes verging on morbid, but unagressively so. It is searching and empathy and not aggression or contempt. Dark as hell but psychedelic, ethereal, and non confrontational. It is very low tempo, but not to the point of ambience or noise, it is music in the traditional sense, with singing etc. I've found slowdive to be a "come back to it" band, with their first impression being good, but then becoming something you may find yourself yearning for.
