Snow Patrol are currently one of the best bands around and at the time of writing are No. 1 in the album charts. When I first saw the price of this DVD I suspected that maybe they couldn't replicate their fine work in the studio on the live stage. I think I paid £6 for it new. How wrong I was!!! The performance on this DVD is superb. The band are tight and Garys vocals are very powerful especially on the anthem "Run". One thing that I really like is that Gary communicates well with the crowd and comes across as humble and not your typical rock star. The crowd respond well to this and it makes for a great atmosphere and a great gig. Most of the Final Straw album tracks are performed on this disc as well as the videos of the singles. The videos are included as extras. The sound quality and lighting are superb and this is all enhanced by the location which I believe is next to a tax office. Wonderful old building shame about the work done inside it. I have, since viewing the DVD, seen them live in the flesh on two occasions and I highly recommend that you get to see them live. Tickets are however difficult to get hold of so in the meantime buy this DVD. You won't be disappointed. This band are going to be the biggest band in the world so even if your not a fan you know someone who is. Buy it for them but make sure you view it first. Track listing as follows; 1. Wow 2. A typical music DVD that features Snow Patrol live at Somerset House. It is a compilation of some of the more popular songs including Run, Wow and Same. There are 15 Tracks in total which is a happy amount as you don't get too restless watching. There are some extras on the disc too where you can see Snow Patrols's Japanese tour diary, Music Video's and the U.S. Tour film. DVD menu is easy to navigate which is a bonus as some music DVD's can be complex and you can pick which tracks you wish to see as well as play all. The camera and sound are excellent and the crowd produce a good atmosphere and this is ideal as a memento if you actually attended this gig. All in all this would sit nicely in anyones DVD collection.
Wow, what a Dvd to have in your collection of Snow Patrol memorabilia! It's safe to say that at one time, I didn't like or appreciate the music and the love they have for it. But, after hearing "Chasing Cars" in the middle of last year, I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. I fell in love with "Eyes Open" and went to see them live in December 2006. After hearing the tracks from the second album "When its all over we still have to clear up" and third album "Final Straw" live,I just had to get a dvd of them live! The one track on the Dvd that means alot to me personally is "An olive grove facing the sea" what a fantastic, fantastic song that really is. For anyone considering buying this dvd, DON'T!!! Just do it!!!! It will have you glued from start to finish. And, unlike other music dvds, it shows you the whole show, not just an edited version. Mr Lightbody and crew, you are a credit to the music business, and the world would be lost without your songwriting and vocal skills. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!Read full review
This is a dvd of Snow Patrol performing live at Somerset House. Even though it was filmed in 2004, you can still feel the atmosphere as if you were actually there in the audience. There is also a documentary on the dvd following the band from the U.S.A. to Japan, which is funny, and cleverly filmed, giving an insight as to what it's like 'on the road' with Snow Patrol. I am a true fan of the band, especially Gary Lightbody, and as such, this is a 'must have' dvd for me or any other fan to have in their collection as I know it will be watched many times, not just once. So, if you love the group, or have just heard some of their more famous songs, such as 'Run' (which is featured being played live), I can't recommend this dvd enough. Filmed in 2004, it has certainly stood the test of time, and in my opinion will continue to do so. I could thankfully find no downside - the whole thing is absolutely brilliant!Read full review
