What a wonderful book! Superbly illustrated and a genuine insight into the life of a shepherd. I have lent this book to friends who now wish to purchase one for themselves.

I bought this book mainly for the beautiful pastel illustrations after seeing it in an art gallery in North Wales. While on holiday in Wales I did not buy the book, being discouraged to do so by my husband. Once home in California, I searched the internet for it and found it here on ebay, even a signed, limited edition of the first edition. I was so thrilled and the price was excellent. I have yet to read it all,and that is a treat in store. This book is also a nice size, only about 8" x 10" I think. It is on good quality, slightly shiny, heavy paper and the reproductions look as though they are true to color. The author and illustrator, Keith Bowen,is a renowned Welsh artist and this copy actually includes a set of his Wintertime stamps designed for the Royal Mail and produced in 1992. With or without these stamps I would highly recommend this book both to artists and people with a love of the countryside; the life of a sheep farmer on the slopes of Snowdon is described in detail throughout the year, both in pictures and words.Read full review
Absolutely spellbinding! The best book on the subject there is ( and I've read most of them ).Wales' leading landscape artist at his peak.
